Lira's best friend. She can't stand Fen, and she is not coming along for his sake.
Sorrel is a Murren: smaller than Fen, with a long tail for balance, ears that catch what nobody else hears, and teeth that can gnaw through cord. She keeps her clothes neat and her satchel in order, and she checks every pocket of it more often than anyone needs to.
She and Fen have had the same argument for years. Fen thinks Lira should hide the Thread. Sorrel thinks it is a wonder, and that Lira should be free to use it. Neither of them has ever given an inch.
The road is hard on her in ways she doesn’t talk about. Plans fall apart, the ground changes underfoot, and her mind keeps counting the ways things could go wrong. She goes anyway, every step of it, for Lira.
