Laten Cecil grew up in the Pacific Northwest, where long walks and quiet hikes gave him an early habit of looking for the hidden worlds tucked inside the familiar ones, a habit that never left.

Laten is dyslexic, and spent years finding reading more obstacle than pleasure. That experience shaped everything about how he writes: his novels are built for accessibility without sacrificing atmosphere or depth, so that readers of all levels can lose themselves in a story without losing the thread.

He keeps a pet millipede, and is currently working on several series.
